kamvalЗа свою историю крепость XIV века 14 раз осаждалась, но ни одна армия так и не смогла ее взять. И при этом Бохусская крепость лучший образец средневековой крепости в Скандинавии, нигде лучше такие крепости не сохранились. В наши дни осмотреть крепость можно в коммуне Кунгэльв на острове Багахольм в устье реки.
Крепость на этом месте заложил норвежский король Хаконом V в 1308 году в качестве пограничного со Швецией укрепленного пункта. Владелец крепости в то время управлял всем регионом, который получил название Бохуслен. Так как крепости с самого начала ничто не могло угрожать, то частенько решались вопросы престолонаследия, а также содержались королевские пленники, как король Швеции Альбрехт Мекленбургский. В XVI веке датчане и шведы не раз пытались овладеть крепостью, но всякий раз терпели неудачу. Затем крепость отошла Дании, а потом и Швеции и уже норвежцы во второй половине XVII века вынуждены были осаждать свою бывшую крепость.
К XVIII веку крепость была сильно разрушена, при этом ее военное значение постепенно падало, так как теперь крепость находилась в глубине шведских территорий и Норвегия и Дания больше не могли ей серьезно угрожать. Поэтому крепость восстановили и сделали резиденцией местного губернатора. А затем здесь была тюрьма. К XIX веку было принято решение срыть крепость, а местным жителям разрешили использовать камень крепости в строительных целях. То, что уцелело, в 1838 году решено было сохранить. В последствии на месте крепости были проведены археологические работы, законсервированы руины и произведена частичная реставрация ворот и одной из башен.
По своей форме крепость представляла неправильный семиугольник, а центральную часть (внутренний двор) защищали 4 мощные башни

Владелец крепости в то время управлял всем регионом, который получил название Бохуслен. Так как крепости с самого начала ничто не могло угрожать, то частенько решались вопросы престолонаследия, а также содержались королевские пленники, как король Швеции Альбрехт Мекленбургский. В XVI веке датчане и шведы не раз пытались овладеть крепостью, но всякий раз терпели неудачу. Затем крепость отошла Дании, а потом и Швеции и уже норвежцы во второй половине XVII века вынуждены были осаждать свою бывшую крепость.</span>

Поэтому крепость восстановили и сделали резиденцией местного губернатора. А затем здесь была тюрьма. К XIX веку было принято решение срыть крепость, а местным жителям разрешили использовать камень крепости в строительных целях. То, что уцелело, в 1838 году решено было сохранить. В последствии на месте крепости были проведены археологические работы, законсервированы руины и произведена частичная реставрация ворот и одной из башен.</span>
